Spanish giants Barcelona are reportedly keen on signing experienced Chelsea right-back Cesar Azpilicueta.
The Spaniard’s Chelsea contract expires next summer and he’s yet to agree a deal with Chelsea for an extension and according to ESPN, this situation has alerted Barcelona who are interested in landing the Chelsea keeper on a free transfer next summer.
Barca have been involved in some free transfers lately with the likes of Memphis Depay and Sergio Aguero joining the club for free in the last transfer window.
The Catalans just completed the signing of 38 year old right-back Dani Alves who joins the club for the second time but this time on a free transfer and Cesar Azpilicueta is another experienced defender said to be admired by Xavi.
Azpilicueta’s versatility is reportedly what interests Xavi as his ability to play in numerous positions across the defence line could be a huge asset to Barcelona.
The Chelsea captain has more than 30 caps for Spain and he’s won literally every trophy that is there to be won at Chelsea football club and most recently, he led the Blues to their second Uefa champions league triumph in May which was followed by the super cup victory in August.
