Thomas Tuchel has been thrown into further selection dilemma as three Chelsea players have reportedly tested positive for Covid-19.
Tuchel confirmed yesterday that there were no new cases of Covid-19 apart from Matteo Kovacic who is still in isolation but reports emerging this afternoon as per Nizaar Kinsella reveal that three undisclosed Chelsea players have tested positive for Covid.
This serves as a huge blow to Chelsea’s already overstretched squad as they already have several players injured and two of those players that have tested positive for Covid are reportedly in Tuchel’s plans for tonight.
If tonight’s game is to go ahead, Tuchel will be forced to do with a little bit more improvisation in order to find the right team to face Everton.
Three premier league games have already been postponed this week; Brentford vs Man Utd, Burnley vs Watford and Tottenham vs Leicester City which was initially slated for tonight.
In as much as the positive Covid-19 cases would affect Chelsea’s plan for tonight, they can’t afford any rescheduling of games in the already congested fixture list.
The Blues face Wolves on Sunday before their Carabao Cup fixture next midweek, a fixture already in doubt due to the recent outbreak of Covid-19 in the squad of their opponents Brentford.
