It’s no longer news that French winger Ousmane Dembele is open to leaving Barcelona next summer.
Dembele’s Barcelona contract expires at the end of the season and the Frenchman is reportedly stalling on agreeing a new contract with La Blaugrana. Hence, he is very likely to be a free agent in the summer.
Dembele is free to negotiate with other clubs as from this winter and according to L’Equipe via Sport Witness, a lot of premier league clubs are interested in signing the winger as a free agent by the time his current deal with Barca expires.
L’Equipe also reports that it is Chelsea who lead the race amongst all the premier league interested in Dembele.
Ousmane Dembele is said to be hugely admired by Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel as they both worked together years ago at Borussia Dortmund.
The French star hasn’t quite hit the heights expected of him since he joined Barca in 2017 as incessant injuries have been a stumbling block to his development at Catalonia.
Could a move to a new club and a new environment help Dembele reach his full potentials? Well, that is a possibility especially if he ends up working with Thomas Tuchel under whom he enjoyed his best form till date. His injury history is however a major negative.
