Time might have just elapsed for Arsenal’s record signing Nicolas Pepe.
The Ivory Coast international joined Arsenal in 2019 in a record £72 million deal but has struggled to live up to expectations at the Emirates.
Arsenal were hoping that the 26-year old who was signed as a Ligue 1 sensation would light up the premier league in Arsenal colours but two years down the line, the Gunners have hoped to the extent of running out of hope. Hence, the winger could leave Arsenal as soon as the January transfer window.
Arsenal are preparing for a few exits in the coming transfer windows as the likes of Alexander Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah already in the final years of their contracts and they’ve also expressed their readiness to sell Nicolas Pepe for a price way less than the £72 million splashed on him in 2019.
Everton, Newcastle and Crystal Palace are the three clubs interested in Pepe according to Jeunes Footeux. The French media outlet however reports that these clubs are not interested in an outright buy this January as they’d prefer a loan deal with an option to be made permanent next summer.
The Ivorian has lost his place in Arsenal’s starting xi as he has fallen behind the likes of Bukayo Saka and Nicolas Pepe in Mikel Arteta’s pecking order and he’s understood to be keen on a move elsewhere.
This is definitely one to keep an eye on as Newcastle are fancied as the most likely destination for Pepe given their recently acquired wealth as it is expected that the Eagles and the Toffees won’t have the wherewithal to either match or outdo the Magpies in the market.
