Arsenal signed Takeiro Tomiyasu from Italian side Genoa on a deal reportedly to worth £19.8million, as Arsenal football club announced new arrival in the late hours of transfer deadline.

Tomiyasu is the third defender Arsenal has brought in this summer as Mikel Arteta is hoping the Japanese international can solve Arsenal defensive woes after conceding nine goals in three Premier league matches this season.

Arsenal announced tomiyasu 15 minutes before the deadline of this summer transfer window and the shirt number he will wear has already been confirmed.

He has taken the No. 18 among the available shirt numbers, which is formerly worn by Thomas Partey, he could have gone for his preferred No.14  but the iconic number is currently occupied by by gunners captain Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

Tomiyasu is ready to make his Arsenal debut against Norwich on Saturday at Emirates stadium after the international break.

Gunners technical director Edu claimed that the club has been scouting the defender for some time, which is why he is overjoyed to have secured his signature.

Meanwhile, manager Mikel Arteta outlined exactly why he targeted Tomiyasu to complete Arsenal’s summer business.
