Chelsea might have lost to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup last night but it was a sort of performance the team could be proud of going forward.

Literally every Chelsea player put in a decent shift on the night but some players were simply exceptional to say the least.
Kai Havertz:

How good was the silky German at Wembley last night? He literally ran the show and the entire backline couldn’t cope with him in the first half as he created over four chances in that half alone.
Kai Havertz had the ball in the back of the net on a couple of occasions but unfortunately for him and Chelsea, the offside flag went up on both occasions and the 22-year old ended the game with 5+ chances created, the most created by a player in the EFL Cup final since David Silva in 2016. Marcos Alonso:

Marcos Alonso’s performance last night has probably gone under the radar but the Spaniard who has quite upped the ante in the last couple of games did very well against Liverpool in yesterday’s cup final.
Was always an attacking outlet on the left side of Chelsea’s attack but more surprisingly, the defensive side of Alonso’s game was excellent on the night as he teamed up with Rudiger in keeping Mohammed Salah quiet for over 120 minutes of footballing action.
Edouard Mendy:

Best goalkeeper in the world. Are there any doubts to that assertion at the moment?
While Kai Havertz was busy turning heads at one end of the pitch Edouard Mendy had spectators in awe at the other end.

His reaction save to Sadio Mané’s follow up effort in the first was quite disbelieving and he was literally impenetrable in the Chelsea goal as he made a number of impressive saves to prevent Liverpool from scoring.
Didn’t deserve to lose.
