Thomas Tuchel faces fresh N’golo Kanté concern following game against Wolves

Chelsea were able to secure a draw against Wolves last night despite having to play with only 14 fit players.

Heading into the game at the Molineux, the Blues were in a very precarious situation with seven players testing positive for Covid-19 and several others injured.

Thomas Tuchel was left with no choice but to start N’golo Kanté who was just returning from an injury, running the risk of getting the player injured again due to lack of match fitness.

Even though N’golo Kanté was excellent for 90 minutes, his fitness is now a source of concern for Chelsea according to journalist Tariq Panja. Even Tuchel admitted that it was against recommendation to have Kanté play for 90 minutes.

Speaking to the Chelsea website the Chelsea gaffer said: “We had a strong recommendation to play 45 [minutes] which we simply ignored and let him on the pitch because, come on, we have seven players out with Covid, injured players out.”

“It was not the moment to take one of the world’s best midfielders out of the game because he’s tired. We left him, he makes a difference all the time.”

With calls for the premier league to be suspended till January gaining more ground, premier league clubs are reportedly set to meet today for a debate on whether or not the next round of fixtures should continue.

Chelsea are scheduled to face Brentford in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday before playing Aston Villa on boxing day.
