Things do not seem to be going very smoothly at the bridge.
Reputable sports journalist, Fabrizio Romano last night released an interview of Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku where the Belgian admitted he’s unhappy with the system being played at Chelsea.
Lukaku has not quite got off the mark this season as he’s scored only six goals in Chelsea blue since his £100 return to his boyhood club from Inter Milan in the summer.
Speaking to Sky Sports via Fabrizio Romano he said: “Physically I am fine. But I’m NOT happy with the situation at Chelsea. Tuchel has chosen to play with another system – I won’t give up, I’ll be professional. I am not happy with the situation but I am professional – and I can’t give up now”.
“I think everything that happened last summer was not supposed to happen like this… how I left Inter, the way I left the club, how I communicated with Inter fans – this bothers me because it was not the right time”.
“Now it’s the right time to share my feelings. I have always said that I have Inter in my heart: I know I will RETURN to Inter, I really hope so. I am in love with Italy, this is right moment to talk and let people know what really happened”.
“I really hope from bottom of my heart to return to Inter not at the end of my career, but when I’m still at top level to win more together”.
“I want apologize to the Inter fan, timing of my words was wrong: what you did for me will remain forever”.
Chelsea fans are certainly not having any of these comments made about their club and manager and they’ve vented out their anger and frustrations on Lukaku.
Check out some of the reactions below:
The way our fans welcomed Lukaku to the club, we have every right to be annoyed at his comments. It’s barely been half a season since he’s arrived. Disappointing.— Dubois (@CFCDUBois) December 30, 2021
Maybe it's the stature that's deceiving Lukaku. One on one, he can't even beat Petu— Elvis Tunde ➐ (@Tunnykvng) December 30, 2021
Timo Werner literally got told by a fan on the pitch to leave Chelsea, man didn't go around to start mouthing off about leaving the club back to Germany.— High Maintenance Husband (@Toluspinnn) December 30, 2021
Lukaku is stupid for real.
Mistranslated or not you don’t say things like that less than 6 months after joining for £100m. A club record fee. Don’t even give the opportunity for comments like this to get out.— CFCDaily (@CFCDaily) December 30, 2021
Chelsea fans that didn’t want us to sign Lukaku in the summer won— Rola (@kofoworola__a) December 30, 2021
Lukaku's has just added fuel to to an already burning Chelsea team. This is all the media have been waiting for and he's given it to them. What was he thinking?🥴— Kwame Benaiah (@kwamebenaiah) December 30, 2021
Tuchel really didn't need this Lukaku interview out on top of the injuries, Chelseas poor form and just before facing Liverpool & City. Lets just hope he can sort this out.— Conn (@ConnCFC) December 30, 2021
Spread the message. Player power at this club has got to end. We won the Champions League last season without Lukaku, we certainly don't need him at our football club causing division. No one has the right to undermine Thomas Tuchel. #LukakuOut— CfcSheikh (@CfcSheikh) December 30, 2021
We backed Lukaku so much only for him to come out and say stuffs like this. Really disappointing.— Azeez Ishola ❼ (@Olaz01) December 30, 2021
Romelu Lukaku you are an awful footballer. The biggest waste of £100 million in football history. Cannot even run or take a touch. Can't ever handle adversity or competition. You are the same small minded fool like you were in 2012. Run back off to Inter. pic.twitter.com/uEdTuz6lr8— CfcSheikh (@CfcSheikh) December 30, 2021
Lukaku can get the fuck out if he is not happy. A lot of players are leaving already.— BLUEBERRY💙 (@NenyeChelsea) December 30, 2021
Reports have however come from some quarters that this wasn’t a recent interview with Daily Telegraph’s Matt Law stating that it was an interview granted by Romelu Lukaku three weeks ago. Nevertheless, majority of the Chelsea fan base are still furious as they feel those comments should have been let out by their club’s record signing.
It also comes at the wrong time from a Chelsea perspective as the Blues prepare to face Liverpool in a very important premier league game on Sunday and it would be very interesting to hear Thomas Tuchel’s response to this as he is likely to hold a pre-match press conference later today.
