Arsenal teenager Zane Monlouis has suggested that Gabriel Martinelli seriously impressed him after he was called into first-team training.
The 18-year-old prospect has trained with Arsenal’s senior squad on occasion this season, with Mikel Arteta taking a closer look at his talents.
Monlouis has obviously come into contact with all of Arsenal’s senior players now, and being a central defender he has got a very close look at the club’s attacking talent.
Arsenal have the likes of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Bukayo Saka to call upon in the attacking positions.
But it is Martinelli who has really caught the eye of Monlouis when he has been called up to join in with the senior squad.
“[Gabriel] Martineli really stood out. He’s so sharp. One second you see him, then the next second he’s gone.
“He’s so fast and nippy and he’s a good finisher as well. And being from Brazil he’s got that little bit of flair about him. He’s going to be a top player.”
Interestingly Martinelli is actually only two years Monlouis’s senior, which highlights the level of talent the Brazilian possesses.
He is now really staking a claim for himself to be a regular starter at Arsenal with his recent performances.
Martinelli has scored four goals and claimed two assists in his last seven outings for Arsenal.
He has also played a key part in helping the Gunners put together one of their most impressive run of results in recent memory.
Arsenal have now won five games on the spin and scored 19 goals in that time.
Martinelli’s pace off the flank has made him a major asset for Mikel Arteta’s side, and has meant that they now look a much bigger threat going forward – even without Aubameyang selected.
Martinelli’s next chance to impress for Arsenal will come tomorrow, when they take on Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium.
