Ronaldo could leave Man Utd if one major condition is not met at the end of the season

5 time Balon d’or winner, Cristiano Ronaldo made a sensational return to Manchester United in the summer in a move described by the football fraternity as a fairytale.

Ronaldo’s return to Man Utd hasn’t been very enjoyable on all fronts though as the team has struggled despite the presence of Ronaldo and other big name signings made in the summer.

Man Utd have been on a poor run of form recently, suffering humbling defeats to rivals Liverpool and Manchester City and the Red devils now find themselves in 6th place, 9 points behind league leaders Chelsea.

The Red devils have however had better fortunes in the champions league this season all thanks to Ronaldo’s last gasp efforts against Villareal and against Atalanta on two occasions.

Going by the way things have panned out, Man Utd fear missing out on the top four by the end of the season and acording to the Express, Cristiano Ronaldo will not accept to play in the Europa League next season. The Portuguese has already scored nine goals in 13 games, five of them in the Champions League, and “it is not ruled out that he will ask to leave at the end of this season if United are caught in the second European club competition”.

Playing in the Europa league could be seen as a stain on Ronaldo’s record and the 36 year old would not want to be caught in that. Hence, a move elsewhere would be ideal for Ronaldo if Man Utd fail to make the top four at the end of the season.
