Chelsea academy graduates Billy Gilmour and Conor Gallagher have both been impressive in their loan spells at Norwich and Crystal Palace respectively and they prove again last weekend why they’ve been dubbed the future of Chelsea’s midfield.
Billy Gilmour bossed the midfield for Norwich against a much fancied Man Utd side while Conor Gallagher put up a man of the match performance for Crystal Palace against Everton as his brace helped the Eagles secure a 3-1 win.
The form of both players have enticed a lot of Chelsea fans lately with many calling for one or two of the midfielders to be recalled but according to the Athletic, that is no longer a possibility.
As per Matt Woosnam, Conor Gallagher can’t be recalled by Chelsea in January as the Blues can only trigger the clause in the loan contract if he has played fewer than 50 per cent of games.
Obviously, Gallagher has played more than that as he’s been one of the major protagonists of Crystal Palace’s season. Therefore, he stays at the club until the end of the season.
Same can be applied to Billy Gilmour who after a brief spell of disfavour under former Norwich boss Daniel Farke has re-established himself in the Norwich starting xi under new boss Dean Smith and given the 50 per cent rule, he stays till the end of the season to complete his loan spell as well.
