At this stage of the season, every game is a must win for both sides as one tries to avoid relegation while the other tries to keep the pace with the big boys at the top end of the table.

Team News:

Norwich have no fresh injury concerns for the clash against Chelsea, Dean Smith has confirmed.

Andrew Omobamidele and Adam Idah are both long-term absentees with a back and knee injury respectively but Max Aarons who didn’t start their last game against Brentford because of a knock is back to full fitness.

Lukas Rupp, who has just returned from injury, missed the previous game against Brentford with fatigue but he is now available, while young midfielder Billy Gilmour is ineligible to play against his parent club Chelsea.

Chelsea meanwhile have been dealt a fresh injury blow as Reece James who had just returned from a hamstring injury that kept him out for two months has been ruled out of Chelsea’s next four games with a muscle injury.

Ben Chilwell remains a long-term absentee and Callum Hudson-Odoi was not spotted in Chelsea’s recent training sessions but the Blues are boosted by the return of captain Cesar Azpilicueta and wing-back Marcos Alonso who missed the last couple of games with injury and Covid respectively.

Norwich Predicted xi: Krul; Williams, Kabak, Hanley, Aarons; McLean, Lees-Melou, Rupp, Rashica, Sargent; Pukki

Chelsea Predicted xi: Mendy; Rudiger, Silva, Chalobah; Azpilicueta, Kovacic, Loftus-Cheek, Alonso; Ziyech, Lukaku, Werner

Current Form:

Norwich are in terrible form currently, not winning any of their last five games, losing four and drawing one. Little wonder they are bottom of the table.

Chelsea on the other hand have lost only once in their last five premier league games and that loss came away at Man City in January.

The Blues after then went on to draw away at Brighton before following up with three straight league wins and they head into tonight’s game on the back of a comprehensive four-nil win away at Burnley last weekend.

Head to Head:

Both sides have met in the premier league 19 times with Chelsea winning 12 and Norwich winning four of those meetings and the fixture has ended in a draw on three occasions.

Also worthy of note is the fact that in 28 years, Norwich are yet to beat Chelsea and in the last five meetings between both sides, the Blues have won all five and most recently was a 7-0 trashing of the Canaries at Stamford Bridge earlier this season.

Chelsea’s last visit to Carrow Road was in August 2019 when the Blues emerged 3-2 winners in an entertaining five-goal thriller.

Norwich have the home advantage but what they lack is the needed quality to match a Chelsea side who have impressed in recent games.
