PL Preview: Leicester City vs Chelsea (team news, current form, head to head & predictions)

Chelsea travel to the King Power to face Leicester City in today’s early kick-off as they look to maintain their stay at the top of the premier league table.

Leicester meanwhile would be hoping to cause an upset at the King Power and climb up from 12th place on the EPL log.

Team News:

Leicester City will be without midfield maestro Youri Tielemans who picked up a calf injury in the Foxes premier league game against Leeds United before the international break. The Belgian couldn’t link up with his national team during the international break and Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that he’ll be out for a few weeks.

Wesley Fofana and James Justin are also out for Leicester while Marc Albrighton returned to training this week.

Chelsea on the other hand look set to welcome back some key players from injury today. Mason Mount is back in contention after pulling out from the England squad following a tooth removal during the international break so is Timo Werner who could probably get involved for the Blues today after injuring his hamstring few weeks back.

Christian Pulisic is also back to full fitness for the Blues and in contention to start today while Romelu Lukaku remains out despite returning to training few days back.

Matteo Kovacic is also out of today’s game with an injury while Thiago Silva’s involvement is in doubt.

Predicted Leicester xi: Schmeichel; Soyuncu, Evans Amartey; Castagne, Ndidi, Soumare, Thomas; Barnes, Perez, Vardy

Predicted Chelsea xi: Mendy; Rudiger, Christensen, Chalobah; Azpilicueta, Kanté, Loftus-Cheek, Chilwell; Hudson-Odoi, Havertz, Mount

Current Form:

Leicester City have won just two of their last five EPL games, drawing twice and losing once while Chelsea are unbeaten in their last five, winning four and drawing only one which was their last game at home to Burnley.

Head to Head:

Leicester City are unbeatean in their last three games against Chelsea and they’d be hoping to continue that run this weekend.

In their last three premier league meetings overall, both sides have one win each and one draw. Chelsea though clearly have an upper hand in the all time head to head records. In 30 meetings with the Foxes, the Blues have won 15 times with the Foxes winning just six times and the fixture has recorded nine draws in those 30 meetings.

Games that come just immediately after the international break are quite difficult to predict but given the recent form of both sides, I see Chelsea coming out on top.
