Sports pundit Paul Merson has issued an advice to Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah urging him to stay at the club.
Eddie Nketiah was on unstoppable form for Arsenal last night as he scored a hat-trick in the Gunners 5-1 win over Sunderland in the Carabao Cup quarter-final.
Nketiah is currently in the final year of his contract and the England U-21 player has turned down Arsenal’s contract extension offer with a move elsewhere becoming increasingly likely.
Paul Merson who happens to be an Arsenal legend was on punditry duties on Sky Sports last night and he gave his take on Nketiah’s situation at Arsenal as he believes the youngster has a big future at the club.
Paul Merson: “If I was his agent I’d be signing [at Arsenal] again. It’s an unbelievable football club.”
Paul Merson: “My advice as a 53-year old who was here for 14 years, stick here for two, three more years. He should have faith in his ability that he will be a star for Arsenal.”
Paul Merson also spoke on the future of Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe after the Ivorian scored once and assisted twice last night. The pundit though believes Arsenal should sell the ‘inconsistent’ winger who has been strongly linked with a move away from Arsenal.
