Arsenal icon Patrick Vieira has already told Arsenal why they should avoid signing Lille midfielder Renato Sanches.
French outlet Le10Sport reported on Tuesday that the Gunners are ‘very interested’ in the Portuguese international, who has less than two years left on his contract with the Ligue 1 side.
The report claims that both Arsenal and AC Milan are keen on signing Sanches in the January transfer window, with the Italian giants further along in their pursuit.
However, Crystal Palace manager Vieira has previously warned any potential suitor that the 24-year-old, while talented, does struggle for consistency, something that Mikel Arteta’s side have successfully avoided in recent months, avoiding defeat in each of their last ten outings.
Speaking to ITV over the summer, the Frenchman said: “He was a big prospect. Last year with Lille, he did really well.
“He wasn’t really consistent during the season but he had some flashes of his talent.”
Sanches started just 14 games in Ligue 1 last season as Lille beat Mauricio Pochettino’s Paris-Saint Germain to a historic league title.
This season the former Bayern Munich playmaker has started four league games, making a further two substitute appearances, often suffering from a plethora of injury problems.
