It has already been a busy summer at Arsenal, with three players joining the club so far. There are many more players rumoured to be joining the club, with Leeds’ Raphinha a name being linked to a number of clubs with Arsenal one of the leading contenders to sign the winger.
It has been reported that Arsenal have had a bid rejected for the Brazilian international, with his future at Elland Road subject to a £65 million release clause. This asking price could be a potential stumbling block for any deal with the Gunners likely to need to sell players to fund such a large outlay, having already signed Fabio Vieira from Porto and Marquinhos from Sao Paolo, while a deal for Matt Turner has also been agreed.
Another question that would need to be answered is whether or not there is a need to sign Raphinha at all, given the Gunners’ strength in the right-wing position. The signing of Vieira has strengthened that position and now the Gunners have two left-footed right wingers with Bukayo Saka already at the club.
What cannot be disputed is the 25-year-old’s quality, with his appearances for Brazil demonstrating the skills which Leeds fans are already aware of. He was a key figure in the Yorkshire club’s Premier League survival last season, scoring 11 goals in 35 games as well as making his debut for Brazil, following which he has scored three goals in nine matches so far for his country.
The question is – where would Raphinha fit in should the Gunners make a move? Here, we take a look at how the Gunners could line up next season.
