18-year old Arsenal star Charlie Patino could be handed his first team debut by Mikel Arteta very soon.
The youngster has been tipped to break into the Arsenal first team this season after intelligent displays for the youth side and was buoyed to make his first team debut against Leeds in the carabao cup but he has been out with an ankle injury.
Goal correspondent Charles Watt has delivered an update on Patino and it is a positive update, in that the teenage star is close to regaining full fitness. “Some good news on Charlie Patino, he made his return [on Monday] after that ankle injury for the Under-23s.
“I think he’ll certainly have one eye on that Sunderland game in the Carabao Cup quarter-final coming up at the Emirates. I think that we might see Patino involved in that one.
“The idea is certainly for next season for him to be in and around the first-team picture, but you kind of want to integrate him before that. [Arteta] resisted the urge against Wimbledon.
“Then Patino was injured for the game against Leeds when he might have been involved. He’ll certainly be pushing, there will certainly be some people behind the scenes at Arsenal, I think, who will be pushing Mikel to maybe get him involved in that game.” Via football.London
Patino is seen as one of the biggest talents to emerge from the Hale End academy in recent times and has been seen in the same light as the likes of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe when they first broke unto the scene.
