Mikel Arteta on Partey display, top four and Leicester win

The Gunners boss is set to face the press after his side's Premier League victory over the Foxes at the Emirates

Mikel Arteta is set to face the press after Arsenal’s win over Leicerster in the Premier League.

The Gunners got off to a fine start as Thomas Partey headed in them in front just after the 10 minute mark. The Ghanaian then hit the bar as Arsenal dominated the early stages.

Leicester grew back into the game though and a fantastic tackle from Ben White and another spectacular save from Aaron Ramsdale against the Foxes were required to keep the scores at 1-0 heading into the break.

The Gunners started the second half much better though and were able to double their lead when Alexandre Lacazette scored his first goal of 2022 from a penalty that had been given after VAR spotted a handball on the goalline by Caglar Soyuncu.

From that point on Mikel Arteta’s men were in control and if anything were unlucky not to extend their lead with chances from Gabriel Martinelli and substitute Emile Smith Rowe.

Player ratings

Thomas Partey has gone under the radar in recent weeks but impossible to ignore him today! He was outstanding and so was Ben White. Both do well in Kaya Kaynak’s player ratings from Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Leicester.

Partey to Sky

“We have a couple of difficult games coming, all the games are difficult, but as Martin said, we have to go game by game & that’s the mentality of the team. We want to keep improving & that’s our mentality now.”

Odegaard on team spirit

“There is clearly something special going on here now. You feel it in the whole club. We are building something special. It’s a group of players who like each other, and who enjoy playing football together.”
