Mikel Arteta confirms who will be in charge of Arsenal vs Man City & reveals why Aubameyang has already left for AFCON

Arsenal are set to face one of their toughest tests of the season this coming weekend when they take on Pep Guardiola’s men.1 second of 52 seconds

The Gunners are on a fine run of form, which has seen them win four on the bounce in the Premier League and climb up to 4th in the table.

However, Arsenal have not had to deal with a top team for several weeks now.

And, when they have done so earlier in the campaign, Arsenal have struggled, losing to Manchester City 5-0 in the reverse fixture back in August.

The north Londoners have also lost to Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United already this term, with Tottenham the only ‘big-six’ side they have picked up three points against in 2021/22.

Manchester City are also in superb form and currently boast the best attack and best defence in the English top-flight this season.

Mikel Arteta on Covid-19 situation & Aubameyang

Mikel Arteta will miss the game due to him recently testing positive for Covid-19.

Despite this, the Spaniard still conducted a press conference via zoom on Friday.

When doing so, he confirmed that Albert Stuivenberg will lead the team in the dugout vs City:

Elsewhere, he also confirmed Arsenal currently have no fresh covid cases:

“I feel much better today. I had a couple of rough days but I have experienced this before. The rest of the squad is in a good place. We tested the players we don’t have any other news than the ones before.”

And, away from covid, the Arsenal boss has stated that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was allowed to join up with Gabon for the AFCON early because he was not going to be involved vs Man City anyway and it was the right thing to do for the striker’s fitness.
