22-year old Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby has caught the eye with his performances in the German Bundesliga and the Europa league this season. Little wonder, he has been named in Didier Deschamps’ France squad for the upcoming internationals later this month.
According to reports emerging from Germany this evening per Sport 1 journalist Patrick Berger, Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle are interested in signing Diaby.
The French winger has scored 16 goals while providing nine assists in the German top flight this season and with some years still left on his current contract Bayer Leverkusen won’t be letting the PSG Academy graduate leave for any meagre amount in the summer. Hence, they’ve slapped a €60 million price tag on the youngster who does not have a release clause in his contract.
Manchester United would most likely be looking for reinforcements on their flanks next summer after the departure of Anthony Martial in January coupled with the fact that the futures of Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard look uncertain at this point and Diaby looks like an ideal replacement or addition to the squad.
Arsenal meanwhile have been targeting a striker ever since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left for Barcelona and with the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Alexander Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah, recruitment in that department is of utmost necessity when the transfer window reopens, and signing a winger is still not completely out of the equation for Mikel Arteta’s side.
In light of the present realities, Bayer Leverkusen have already identified a potential replacement for Moussa Diaby and according to Patrick Berger, he is AS Roma’s Carles Pérez.
With the summer transfer window just a few months away, this is certainly one to keep an eye on.
