According to rumors from Spain, Arsenal and Liverpool have indicated interest in signing Valencia winger Goncalo Guedes.
The Portuguese international, who is valued at £22.5 million by football website Transfermarkt, has piqued Arsenal and Liverpool’s interest, according to Spanish news outlet Fichajes.
Guedes’ contract with the Spanish club expires in less than two years, and there is thought to be no progress on a renewal, putting Arsenal and Liverpool on high alert.
So far this season, the 24-year-old has been in excellent form for Valencia, scoring twice and assisting on another two goals in eight La Liga outings since the start of the season.
Guedes has been a great addition to Valencia since joining for £36 million from Paris Saint-Germain over three years ago, and he may be a good investment for Arsenal if they pursue a deal.
In the past, his performances for Valencia have earned him a slew of accolades, including some from big-name players, such as Real Madrid legend and fellow countryman Luis Figo.
“Guedes is a speedy, irreverent, and unexpected player who builds moves for his teammates and can also finish brilliantly,” Figo told Foot Mercato in 2018. He possesses all of the attributes required to be one of Fernando Santos’ World Cup squad of 23.”
When speaking about Guedes in 2017, former PSG director of football Patrick Kluivert expressed his delight at the club’s ability to recruit “one of the finest Portuguese talents” from Benfica.
Kluivert remarked after the signing: “We are overjoyed that Goncalo has decided to join PSG. He is, in my opinion, one of the best Portuguese talents of the moment.
“The club has a strong and devoted relationship with this country, and I am confident that the fans will enjoy his style of play. Because of his versatility, his entrance keeps things intriguing for us.”
