One negative from a Chelsea perspective in last night’s 4-0 victory over Juventus was the injury to left wing-back Ben Chilwell.
The Englishman was subbed off late in the game due to injury and from the early signs it might be an Arterio Cruciate Ligament injury, as per the Telegraph.
This was the fears of the Chelsea players when he first picked up the injury and if it’s an ACL, it could well mean that the defender could be out for the rest of the season.
Chelsea now await the final results from the tests to be run and everyone would be hoping that the injury is more minor that it already appears.
Chilwell has been one of the best players for Chelsea this season and has scored three goals and given one assists plus numerous clean sheets in all appearances this season and being out till the end of the season could deal a huge to Chelsea’s chances of competing on all fronts this season.
Worst case scenario, Chelsea could be forced to recall Italian left-back Emerson Palmieri from his loan spell at French Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnaise in January to fill in for Ben Chilwell and provide competition for Marcos Alonso till the end of the season.
