Gary Neville gives Aubameyang verdict following Arteta’s big decision against Everton

Arsenal fell to a 2-1 defeat against Everyone last night as the Tofees came back from a goal down to snatch the late win at Godison Park.

Arsenal Captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was left out of Mikel Arteta’s starting xi for the Everton game after a string of poor performances from the Gabonese striker.

The skipper was introduced to the action in the second-half but Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville believes that manager Mikel Arteta’s decision to drop Aubameyang passes a very strong message and the pundit has predicted there could be an issue at the Emirates Stadium. More so, Eddie Nketiah was brought on as a substitute before the Arsenal captain.

“Yeah, it is going to (a problem is brewing there), isn’t it? There’s always a bit of a bug there between Arteta and Aubameyang. I know he’s the captain, but he leaves him out.” Neville said post-match while on punditry duties for Sky Sports.

“I think it’s a little bit awkward. I suspect if they could get money for him and get someone else and I suspect if Aubameyang could go somewhere else and move on, then he probably would as well. It could turn a little bit sour.”

Aubameyang’s substitute appearance against Everton also brought another talking point as the striker missed yet another big chance, this time late in the game to restore parity for Arsenal.
