Uruguayan midfielder Lucas Torreira seems to be enjoying his football again after a good start to life at Italian club Fiorentina.
Torreira spent last season on loan at Atletico Madrid but the midfielder struggled in the colours of La Roja and ultimately failed to establish himself in the Spanish capital.
Torreira’s failure to make an impact at Atletico Madrid meant another loan spell was imminent in the summer as he clearly wasn’t in Mikel Arteta’s plans for the season. Hence, the loan move to Serie A Club Fiorentina happened.
The Arsenal loanee has now rediscovered his mojo in the colours of La Viola this season as he’s been the heartbeat of their midfield so far. Little wonder the Italian club are now sensing a need to keep him beyond this season.
Fiorentina have an option to buy in Lucas Torreira’s loan deal and according to Italian media outlet Fiorentina news in a report done by Sport Witness, the Serie A side are willing to activate that clause.
According to the loan agreement, signing Torreira on a permanent basis would cost Fiorentina €15 million and this is an amount the Italian club are willing to pay for the midfielder. Hence, Arsenal would be receiving a fee for the player in that region next summer if no negotiations are done for the Gunners to reduce the price tag.
