Four players that Impressed in 1-1 draw between Chelsea and Man Utd

Chelsea and Manchester United played out a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge last night as both sides cancelled each other out after 90 minutes of football.

Chelsea had the lion share of possession and created the most chances but it was Jadon Sancho opened the scoring for Man Utd early in the second half after getting through on goal from a Jorginho mistake but the Chelsea captain on the night redeemed himself as he calmly restored parity from the spot in the 69th minute.

Despite the somewhat underwhelming performance from both sides, there were still some players who stood heads and shoulders high above the others.

The Brazilian was arguably Man Utd’s best player last night as he put on a workaholic shift in the Man Utd midfield.

According to stats obtained via StatmanDave, the Manchester United midfielder recorded 32 attempted passes, 26 successful passes, nine ball recoveries, four passes into the final 1/3, four attempted tackles, four interceptions, three fouls suffered, two successful tackles and no foul(s) committed.

A very strong performance from the midfielder as he hopes to stake a claim in the next Man Utd managers starting xi.

Hakim Ziyech

Arguably Chelsea’s best player in attack last night. In a game were the Chelsea attackers were poor, the Moroccan always looked most likely to force the issue.

It wasn’t to be for Ziyech and Chelsea though as they could only depend on Jorginho’s penalty to beat De Gea in the Man Utd match.

Scott McTominay

Another of Man Utd’s midfield marshal. The Scott was exceptional against his favourite opponents last night.

In eight games played against Chelsea (more than any other side in his career), Scott McTominay has never lost, little wonder he dropped a Masterclass against Chelsea. In fact, the midfielder was named Sky Sports man of of the match last night.

Thiago Silva:

Aging like fine wine. The 37-year old Brazilian defender dropped yet again another flawless performance at the heart of Chelsea’s defence.

Silva also contributed his quota at the attacking end as he initiated the contact by Aaron Wan-Bisakka to hand Chelsea a penalty for their well deserved equalizer.
