Fear of last minute robbery’ – Worry Manchester United may swoop for another late signing after completing 100m deal

On Sunday, Manchester United and Ajax reached an agreement for Antony’s transfer.

The same day also saw Cody Gakpo confirm the Red Devils are a serious option for him to leave PSV Eindhoven. He also admitted there are other clubs interested in him.

Earlier today, De Telegraaf’s Valentijn Driessen said Manchester United seem to be in pole to sign the 23-year-old. The journalist also warned the player against leaving the Eredivisie side, at least for the coming season.

The Netherlands international’s situation has left his club worried as Algemeen Dagblad state PSV ‘fear a last minute robbery from England’ to sign their star.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side have still not received a bid for the forward.

Should Manchester United, or another club, come forward with a €35-40m offer on deadline day, AD questions whether PSV can refuse it, after having missing out on the Champions League.

PSV-watcher and Dutch journalist, Rik Elfrink, took to Twitter to state the Eindhoven side are ‘still fully considering a departure of Gakpo’. The ‘choice was still not made’ as of this morning.
