Everton set sights on two Arsenal players ahead of January transfer window

English premier league side Everton look ready to get involved in some major transfer business this winter and Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Callum Chambers are among their targets.

Everton were close to signing Maitland-Niles on loan in the summer but the deal fell through at the dying minutes and according to The Sun, the Tofees would want to ‘resurrect’ that loan deal in January.

Everton reportedly have a plan B though as they hope to sign Arsenal defender Callum Chambers if they don’t succeed in taking Maitland-Niles on loan.

Chambers looks very unlikely to break into Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal first xi after returning from a long-term injury last month as Takehiro Tomiyasu, Ben White and Gabriel have all looked established in the Englishman’s favoured positions.

The defender is in dire need of playing time and would definitely fancy a move away and he’s recently been strongly linked with a move to Newcastle after just a little above a couple of appearances in all competitions this season.

Both Maitland-Niles and Chambers represent interesting options for Everton as both players can play in numerous positions. The former is a utility player who can play comfortably as either a wing-back or a full-back and in the midfield positions while the latter can comfortably fit in at both right-back and centre-back.
