Everton left-back Lucas Digne is available in the market this winter and Everton boss Rafa Benitez has confirmed that the Frenchman wants to leave the club this January.
According to Sky Sports, Everton want around £30 million for Lucas Digne. And apart from Chelsea, Newcastle and West Ham, an unnamed fourth Premier League club has also shown interest in the France international.
Chelsea are in need of depth at left wing-back after a season ending injury to Ben Chilwell but Matt Law who reports for the Telegraph writes that Chelsea are still weighing their options and are yet to make a decision on whether they’d sign a left-back this January as the option of recalling Emerson Palmieri who is on loan at Olympique Lyonnaise still remains on the cards.
Chelsea do not want to sign a left-back on a permanent deal this winter as that could leave them with five left-backs in the summer. Hence, a loan deal for Lucas Digne with an OPTION to buy is what the Blues would prefer rather than a loan deal that includes an OBLIGATION to buy.
Everton meanwhile either want to sell Digne permanently or loan him out with an obligation to buy at the end of the season and this could be a major stumbling block to Chelsea landing the Frenchman this January.
