The Magpies currently sit 19th on the premier league log and with their newly acquired wealth they’d be looking to strengthen in the winter after appointing former Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe as a replacement for Steve Bruce who was sacked last month and Rob Holding is prime amongst their transfer targets.

This is according to Football London who are reporting that Holding has always been a transfer target for newly appointed Newcastle boss Eddie Howe right from his days as Bournemouth manager.

Rob Holding whose current value is at around £16 million has struggled for game time this season as he’s falling down Mikel Arteta’s pecking order of centre-backs following the summer arrival of English defender Ben White from Brighton.

Ben White has formed a very solid partnership with Brazilian defender Gabriel Magalhaes this season and this factor coupled with the imminent return of promising centre-back William Saliba from his loan spell at Olympique Marsielle could keep Holding out of the Arsenal team for the long-term.

Young defender Pablo Mari is also in contention for a spot in the middle of Arsenal’s defence. Hence, it only seems ideal that Holding seeks a move elsewhere.
