Arsenal fans have taken to social media to heap praise on Nicolas Jover after the 3-1 win over Aston Villa.
Whilst the Gunners’ six signings in Aaron Ramsdale, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Ben White, Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Martin Odegaard dominated the headlines in the summer transfer window, manager Mikel Arteta made an addition to his backroom staff.
At the beginning of July, Jover arrived at the Emirates Stadium after leaving Premier League rivals Manchester City when his contract expired at the end of June.
As a result, Jover took over from Andreas Georgson – who headed back to his native Sweden with Malmo after spending one season with the Gunners – as a set-piece specialist – a similar role he held at the Etihad Stadium.
Arteta was already familiar with Jover having worked alongside him for a few months when the latter arrived at City from Brentford in the summer of 2019.
And as per L’Equipe, via Sport Witness, Pascal Grosbois – specialist set-piece coach himself – revealed why Pep Guardiola opted to appoint Jover.
