Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen has ‘practically’ agreed’ to join Barcelona on a four-year deal after giving the Spanish club a ‘verbal ok’ recently. Per Sport via Sport Witness.
It’s no longer news that Christensen is in the final four months of his Chelsea contract and the Danish centre-back is unlikely to agree an extension as things stand which means he could leave the club as a free agent in the summer.
The Dane’s situation has put a lot of top clubs in Europe on alert as they compete for his signature but it is Barcelona who are reportedly leading the race as the La Liga side are very confident of fending off any competition for the player.
According to the report by Sport via Sport Witness, a four-year contract is ‘practically agreed’, and while the deal is still in need of a‘definitive signature’, the player and his entourage have given a verbal ok to the move.
The report goes further to however say that Chelsea are still pushing to keep Christensen at Stamford Bridge with the 25-year old being put under pressure to commit his future to the London club.
It is understood that there would be a final meeting between Christensen and Chelsea where the club would try a last ditch attempt at getting the centre-back to sign a new contract but Barcelona are confident that the player would eventually choose them over his current club.
