Club legend criticised Arsenal star despite goal involvement Vs Norwich

Arsenal got off to a winning start in the Premier League on Saturday, defeating Norwich City 1-0.
At the Emirates Stadium, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the game’s sole goal, giving Arsenal a much-needed three points.

All of the hype leading up to Saturday’s match was about Mikel Arteta and the strain on his position after losing his first three games of the season without scoring a goal.
With the three points, Aubamayang’s second-half score was enough for the hosts in north London, who now sit in 16th place in the Premier League table.

After dealing with illness earlier in the week, Nicolas Pepe returned to the starting lineup against the Canaries, with Emile Smith Rowe beginning on the bench.

Pepe, on the other hand, did not impress former Arsenal defender Martin Keown, who slammed Pepe’s performance.
During Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Chelsea, Keown observed on BT Sport, “It doesn’t feel like Pepe is at the races today.”

“It appears as though I’m heading straight for him right now, but we’re keeping a closer eye on him now. He’s been there for a while, maybe a couple of years.”
Pepe, 26, has reached a turning point in his Arsenal career, as he is now in his third season with the Gunners after joining for £72 million from Lille in 2019.

Pepe concluded the previous season in good form for Arsenal, and Arteta admitted there were no excuses for the Ivorian not to continue his impressive form.

When asked about Pepe’s mental shift in April, Arteta responded, “I think he needed to do that, yeah.”
“He required a period of adaptation, which has already passed. So we can’t rely on adaptation any longer; now it’s all on performance, which he is capable of.

“He has the players behind him, a manager who believes in him, all of the staff who are eager to assist him, and all of his teammates who adore him because he is such a pleasant character, so there are no excuses.”
