Chelsea weighing up move for Barcelona defender but face competition from two European heavyweights

Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Barcelona defender Sergiño Dest.

Dest is not finding things very easy at Barca currently and he’s reportedly not in the plans of manager Xavi Hernandez who took over at the Spanish club last month.

As per Mundo Deportivo via Sport Witness, the U.S international is among five players Barca are willing to sell and as per multiple reports, Chelsea are weighing up a move for the right-back.

Reece James is the only natural option Chelsea have at right wing-back and signing Sergiño Dest next summer will surely increase the team’s depth in that position.

The Blues would face competition from other clubs though as the likes of Man City and Bayern Munich are said to be interested in the player who is hugely admired both clubs.

Dest joined Barca from Ajax in the summer of 2020 in a deal worth €21 million and the Spanish giants would definitely want to get profit for the young defender. Hence, they’ll be willing to receive anything above €21 million for the young defender.

£30 million is what the defender is said to be valued at and a move away from Barcelona next summer looks very feasible at the moment with Chelsea, Man City and Bayern Munich already showing interest.
