Man City winger Riyad Mahrez has been ever impressive for the Cityzens since joining from Leicester City a few seasons ago.
The Algerian has been on fire in the current campaign and his two-goal performance against Man Utd on Sunday was just a testament of how good he is and his goal tally which currently stands at 21 makes him Man City’s highest goalscorer in all competitions this season.
Mahrez is his club’s highest goalscorer in the league and fifth highest goalscorer amongst players from other clubs and his current form shows a player in the peak of his powers.
French giants PSG have reportedly identified the 31-year old as a potential replacement for Angel Di Maria who would likely be departing the French capital at the expiration of his contract in the summer. This is according to footmercato journalist, Santi Aouna who reports that Le Parisiens had identified Mahrez as an ideal player ever since he helped Man City eliminate them from the champions league semi-final last season.
Aouna also reports that Chelsea are another club to have shown an interest in the former Leicester man as the English club look for an experienced winger who is clinical in front of goal, a profile which Riyad Mahrez clearly fits.
Mahrez’ current Man City contract expires in 2023 and it is looking unlikely that the player would sign an extension with the Cityzens. It therefore presents an opportunity that PSG and Chelsea could capitalize on, given the player could be available for a cheaper price in the range of about €30-€40 million next summer.
