Dest joined Barcelona from Ajax in a €20 million move last year but the young American has not quite impressed at the camp nou and according to reports, the right-back is not in the plans of incoming Barca manager, Xavi Hernandez.

Barcelona parted ways with Dutch manager Ronald Koeman last week and the Catalan giants are strongly linked with bringing in former player Xavi Hernandez as a replacement.

Reports in Spain suggest that Barcelona would be doing a squad overhaul by the time Xavi arrives and USMNT right-back Sergiño Dest has been identified as one of the players Barca are Keen to offload.

El Nacional are reporting that European Champions, Chelsea are interested in bringing Dest to Stamford Bridge as an alternative option to Reece James in the team’s right wing-back position.

The 21 year old’s attacking ability is seen as a great asset to Tuchel’s system and it is expected that the US international would flourish more in Tuchel’s system than in Xavi’s system.

According to El Nacional, Chelsea are ready to offer €25 million for Dest but Barca would only love to receive €35 million for the youngster.

It’s a deal hugely dependent on what happens next summer as Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta who has less than a year left on his Chelsea contract would leave the club if a new deal is not agreed and his imminent departure would automatically create a vacancy in the right wing-back position.
