Chelsea defender Malang Sarr might be on his way out of the club this January, potentially on a loan deal as playing time has been hard to come by for the Frenchman.
Sarr joined Chelsea from Nice in 2020 on a free transfer and spent the 2020/21 season on loan at FC Porto, a loan spell that didn’t go as planned as the 22-year old eventually fell out of favour as time went on at the Estadio Do Dragao.
The centre-back has been part of the Chelsea squad this season but with just four appearances in all competitions so far, it doesn’t seem as though he’d stay at the club until the end of the season. More so, he hasn’t been really convincing in a couple of the games he’s played, particular in Wednesday’s 3-3 champions league draw against Zenit where he was guilty of some defensive lapses.
Reports emerged at the beginning of the week that Sarr was in Milan with his agent in a bid to secure a move to Inter Milan and further reports from Italy said he was being targeted as a potential signing alongside Chelsea teammate Andreas Christensen for AC Milan who are looking for a replacement for Simon Kjaer who’s been ruled out till the end of the season with an injury.
According to the latest reports, as per footmercarto, Torino is the latest club to show interest in Malang Sarr and the 13th placed Serie A side are eyeing a loan move for the defender in January.
Sarr’s departure is though hugely dependent on whether Chelsea would be able to sort out the contract issues lingering in their defence plus getting a potential replacement to fill the void Malang Sarr would be leaving.
