Chelsea are reportedly close to agreeing a contract extension for Danish defender Andreas Christensen.
Christensen’s current Chelsea contract expires next summer and talks have been on for months over a renewal with top clubs like AC Milan lurking to snatch the 25-year old away should in case he doesn’t sign an extension with Chelsea.
The new development now favours Chelsea though as Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Christensen is about to sign a new four year contract and the deal probably includes an option to extend for a further year.
The deal is almost done according to reports with just a few paper works left before official confirmation in the next few days.
This comes as a welcomed development as Christensen is one of four Chelsea defenders who are out of contract at the end of the season.
One of these defenders is 37-year old Brazilian, Thiago Silva whom according to Gianluca Di Marzio is also set for a contract renewal.
Thiago Silva joined as a free agent from PSG at the start of last season and he’s impressed ever since, helping Chelsea win the Uefa Champions League before getting a one year extension in the summer.
The Chelsea chiefs will now meet with Silva’s representatives to discuss over a further one year extension in the coming days.
