Chelsea have reportedly agreed a €23.4m fee with Fenerbahce to sign centre-back, Attila Szalai.
The 23-year old Hungarian international will sign a six-year contract with Chelsea and receive an annual salary of €4m ahead of a January move. This is according to reports emanating from the Turkish media via Simon Phillips.
Chelsea seem to be resigned to the fate of losing Antonio Rudiger next summer. Hence, this latest move. Szalai plays as a left centre-back for Fernerbache and his arrival could either be a replacement for Antonio Rudiger or a competition.
Rudiger’s current contract at Chelsea expires next summer and according to reports, both parties are far presently far apart in regards to agreeing a new deal.
If a contract extension is not signed soon, Antonio Rudiger would be free to enter into pre-contract talks with other clubs as from January and clubs like Real Madrid, PSG, Bayern Munich are the big guns said to be interested in signing the German.
Danish defender, Andreas Christensen is also another centre-back whose Chelsea contract expires next summer and both parties are still yet to find common ground over a new deal.
Attila Szalai is a highly rated centre-back, 6ft 4, left footed and just 23 years old. He definitely has the attributes and potentials to flourish in Thomas Tuchel’s back 3.
