It was just last week rumours emerged via the Brazilian media that Arsenal director Edu Gaspar is attempting to replace Mikel Arteta with Brazil national team coach Tite.
The report stated that Arsenal were keen on agreeing a contract with Tite with the Brazilian ready to take over after he had led his current team to the 2022 world cup in Qatar later this year.
Tite has now come out to clearly address those rumours, regarding them as fake.
“Sorry, Arsenal. Sorry, Arteta: It is not a situation. It didn’t come from us. No, there is absolutely nothing.” The Brazilian said in a press conference
“About the information given during the broadcast of the Globo network, my feeling is very sad and I get sad because information is passed on to the public that is a lie,”
“I apologise to Arsenal, but that information did not come from us and there is absolutely nothing.”
Tite’s response further goes to suggest one thing and that is the fact that a new contract could be on the cards for Mikel Arteta whose current contract is expiring in about a year’s time.
Was Tite in the minds of the club as a back up plan? No one can really tell.
