Spanish giants Barcelona are reportedly interested in making a move for Manchester United striker Edison Cavani as a potential replacement for Sergio Aguero who has struggled with fitness since he arrived Catalunya in the summer. As per El Nacional.
Aguero joined Barca in the summer as a free agent after his contract had expired at Man City but things haven’t turned out as expected for the Argentine who has barely had enough time to show his qualities on the pitch due to incessant injury and fitness issues. The former Man City man was subbed off in the first half of the Last Liga game against Alaves last weekend after complaining of chest discomfort and the striker is not expected to return to the pitch anytime soon.
Man Utd’s Edison Cavani might just be the one to fill the void for Aguero whose absence is potentially long-term. Barcelona were linked to Cavani in the summer but the deal didn’t materialize as the Uruguayan chose to stay at Manchester despite the return of Cristiano Ronaldo.
The veteran striker impressed in Man United’s 3-0 win over Tottenham last week as he scored Man Utd’s 2nd goal on the night.
The former PSG star obviously still has a lot in his locker to offer despite being aged 34. Hence, a move to Barca in January seems a mouthwatering prospect.
