Arteta excluded three Arsenal youngters from Arsenal premier squad ahead of Norwich clash

On Friday night, Arsenal announced their team for the 2021/22 Premier League season.
Despite the three being connected with a transfer away from the Emirates Stadium over the summer, the Gunners included Sead Kolasinac, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, and Eddie Nketiah among the regular and expected names on the list.

Arsenal supporters may have been surprised to see Gunners academy graduates Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe, as well as Gabriel Martinelli, left out.

However, there is a solid reason for their removal from the 25-man list: Premier League rules state that any player under the age of 21 is not required to take up a spot.
In fact, any Premier League team can name as many Under-21 players as they like.

Arsenal appears to have taken this to heart, naming a total of 63 young talents who might all play a role in league action this season.
Surprisingly, another name on the Under-21 list is French defender William Saliba.

The former Saint Etienne centre-back joined Marseille on a season-long loan earlier this summer, thus he was unlikely to feature for Arsenal throughout the season.
However, if he is called up or sent back to the Emirates Stadium for any reason, he might play a role for Arsenal before the club’s next chance to make changes in the January transfer window.
