A senior team debut for Patino is very much long awaited due to the high level of expectations right from the start of the season and he was expected to play in Arsenal’s previous Carabao Cup fixtures but he couldn’t be picked ahead of some senior players in the squad.

Charlie Patino was supposed to start against AFC Wimbledon in the previous Carabao Cup round as per Football.London but Thomas Partey who was just returning from injury was in need of minutes, hence, the Ghanaian had to play instead.

Mikel Arteta: “He [Patino] was very close, but in the end we decided that some players needed some minutes. It will happen naturally, in time.”

The youngster was pictured in Arsenal first team training earlier today conversing with Mohammed Elneny and a lot of people have hinted that the Egyptian could partner with Patino in midfield for the Gunners tommorow.

With Albert Sambi-Lokonga testing positive for Covid-19 recently, Charlie Patino definitely stands a chance to play tomorrow and if Mikel Arteta decides to field a strong xi, the teenager could still make his debut off the bench.
