Arsenal reportedly hope to tie youngster Bukayo Saka down to a fresh long-term contract after starting informal talks with the winger’s agents.
The Englishman has been in sensational form for his side this term, becoming the Gunners’ talisman during an impressive season under Mikel Arteta.
Saka penned a new four-year deal two years ago but his stock has risen notably since, with the winger netting ten times in 33 outings this season.
Manchester United and Liverpool have expressed an interest in his services but the Athletic say that the club are aware of the need to recognise his progress and they want to reward Bukayo with an extension.
It’s stated an ‘initial’ conversation has been held with the youngster’s entourage, where the prospect of renewal was raised.
It is now likely that formal discussions will be held and the Londoners are confident that the attacker will put pen-to-paper over an improved contract.
The club’s end of term form is likely to impact negotiations, as they’d be in a far stronger position should Arsenal finish in the Champions League.
Mikel Arteta’s men currently occupy the final UCL spot but they face a battle with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur for fourth place.
