Arsenal star wants to emulate Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of Thursday night’s epic clash

Arsenal travel to Old Trafford on Thursday to face Manchester United in what promises to be an epic encounter.

The Red Devils would be heading into this one off the back of a 1-1 draw away at Chelsea last weekend and for Arsenal, it’s another opportunity to consolidate on their 2-0 win at home to Newcastle on Saturday.

In a big game like Man Utd vs Arsenal, there are lots of big names to look forward to and Thursday’s game is no different from the rest as Cristiano Ronaldo and co will be on parade.

To make things more interesting, Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli recently revealed that Man Utd’s Cristiano Ronaldo is his idol and he’d love to emulate the Portuguese’s illustrious career.

“My idol is Cristiano Ronaldo,” the Brazilian toldĀ Marca via “I admire him very much for the strength of will he has, for the way he works and for everything … for the individual and collective awards he earns.”

“He is a guy who does not conform, always wants more. That is what I want for myself: to always be conquering things.”

“He is an example.”

Martinelli had an impressive cameo against Newcastle United last weekend as he came off the bench to double Arsenal’s lead with what was probably his first touch of the game and the 20-year old would be hoping that performance has earned him the chance to share the pitch with his idol on Thursday and possibly even start the game.
