Arsenal Set To Agree Personal Terms With 22-year-old Swedish Midfielder
Tottenham Hotspur are allegedly ahead of Manchester City in the hunt to sign Bologna midfielder Mattias Svanberg during the winter transfer window.
The 22-year-old star has been in impressive form for his Italian side during the 2021-22 campaign, netting three times and contributing two assists in 18 matches in all competitions.
The Citizens have been strongly linked with the Swedish ace, while Arsenal have also recently been touted with an interest in the player’s services.
The Gunners bolstered their midfield unit in the summer with the signing of Albert Sambi Lokonga but Mohamed Elneny is said to be on his way out of the club imminently.
Also, the recurring injury issues of Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey could prompt the north London giants to invest in a new midfield player in the summer.
However, according to reports, Spurs are the favourites and arsenal will have to beat off competition from their rivals with head coach Antonio Conte earmarking him as the ideal January signing for his side.
The report adds that Tottenham senior member Fabio Paratici’s links with Italy has placed the PL club in a strong position when it comes to landing Mattias.
He has allegedly recently rejected the chance to sign a new deal at Bologna, and his existing contract with I Rossoblu is due to expire in June 2023.
