Arsenal set for three-way summer transfer battle with PSG and Newcastle for Ligue 1 star dubbed ‘the next Kaka’

Brazilian midfielder Lucas Paqueta has been attracting interests from several top clubs in Europe over the past few months.

According to multiple reports, Arsenal have joined the race for the 24-year old who is also admired by PSG and Newcastle.

Newcastle United tried signing the midfielder in January but the move failed and the Tyneside club had to settle for another Brazilian Lyon player Bruno Guimaeres but reports still suggest that Eddie Howe’s side maintain an interest in Paqueta heading into the summer.

Lucas Paqueta has impressed for Olympique Lyonnaise this season, little wonder the level of admiration he’s drawn. In 30 appearances for the French outfit this season, the midfielder has scored eight times and assisted five times, a statistic that puts him among the best performers in the Ligue 1.

The Brazil international has been dubbed ‘the next Kaka’ by many football fans due to the similarities he shares with the Brazil footballing icon and many clubs would relish the prospect of signing a player who has got such potentials.

Paqueta is said to be available for around £30 million next summer, a fee all three interested clubs would likely be able to afford. It therefore boils down to who makes the best offer or which project interests the 24-year old more.
