Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe has received his first ever call up to England senior team. The Arsenal forward arrived at St. George’s Park on Monday having initially been scheduled to join the England Men’s U21 squad in Burnley.
Smith Rowe’s call up comes as no surprise at all as the Arsenal number 10 has been in fine form this season scoring in Arsenal’s last 3 consecutive games
Smith Rowe is seemingly a replacement for Man Utd forward Marcus Rashford who has been confirmed to have pulled out of the England squad for the World Cup qualifying games. The Man Utd number 10 will not join up in order to focus on regaining full fitness during the international break following a bout of illness plus his recent return from a long-term injury.
According to the Telegraph, Man Utd and England are thought to agree that Rashford’s time would be better spent working on his fitness at the club’s Carrington training base in the next couple of weeks and rather than competing in the forthcoming internationals.
With Smith Rowe’s arrival and Marcus Rashford’s withdrawal, Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate has now started preparations with 22 players in camp as Luke Shaw, Mason Mount and James Ward-Prowse are yet to join up with the squad due to fitness issues.
