Arsenal press conference live: Mikel Arteta on Saka’s performance, COVID and fixture congestion

Mikel Arteta is set to face the press after Arsenal’s 5-0 win over Norwich at Carrow Road.

A rampant Gunners side got off to a sublime start when Bukayo Saka finished off a lovely move after just five minutes to set the tone of the game.

The Canaries then threatened to grow into it briefly after some scuffles involving Granit Xhaka, but Kieran Tierney’s goal just before half time ended any hope of a come back.

Saka then added his second just after hour mark to cement Arsenal’s control, before a late penalty from Alexandre Laczette and another goal off the bench for Emile Smith Rowe rounded off the scoring.

Arsenal were struck with a bout of COVID though before the game that saw Takehiro Tomiyasu, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Cedric all ruled out after testing positive for the virus.

Arteta on the display

“Collectively and individually we had some big performances. You don’t win 5-0 away from home if you don’t have that. I’m really happy with all the boys.”

Arteta on the fans

“The support that we’re getting in every ground from our supporters is very much linked with the way we can transmit the way we want to play.”

Player ratings

Impossible to pick a man of the match out of the three behind Lacazette but it will be no surprise to you that Saka, Odegaard and Martinelli all do well in Kaya Kaynak’s player ratings.

Special mention to Thomas Partey who was quietly good in the middle.
