Arsenal in transfer talks to bring Belgium international back to London

Arsenal reportedly held a meeting with Eden Hazard’s agents as they consider submitting an offer for the Real Madrid attacker.

French source Foot Mercato say the club are thinking about bringing the ex-Chelsea star to the Emirates on loan in the summer with an option to buy.

He established himself as a supporters’ favourite at Stamford Bridge, bagging more than 100 goals in his seven-year stint in west London and helping them win two Premier League titles and two UEFA Europa Leagues.

Real Madrid forked out more than £100m to snap him up in 2019 but the player has struggled at Santiago Bernabeu, scoring just six times over the past three campaigns.

Because of fitness issues, Eden has been absent for large periods of his spell at Los Blancos and could be tempted to quit the club in an attempt to revive his senior career.

Reports in France say the Gunners are monitoring his situation and met with the winger’s representatives in the previous week to discuss a possible deal.

The plan, Foot Mercato say, would be to sign Hazard on loan and potentially securing Eden’s signature on a permanent deal at the end of the 2022-23 term, in the same vein as youngster Martin Odegaard.
