Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has a number of decisions to make on the future outlook of his Gunners’ attack.
Captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is currently one of the only players assured of a place in the front-line, whilst the likes of Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette have uncertain futures at the Emirates Stadium.
The former has been starved of opportunities so far this season having not made a Premier League appearance for the club, whilst the Frenchman sees his contract expire at the end of the campaign.
Fortunately, they could turn to Folarin Balogun with the young striker having found some sensational form for the club’s U23 side so far this season.
A hat-trick in a 5-3 defeat to Derby County on Friday evening took his record to an astounding 14 goals in just ten Premier League 2 outings.
It is clear then that the 20-year-old has outgrown developmental football – a point echoed by Arsenal fans, with the majority of them calling for him to be sent out on loan.
However, it is clear that Balogun could potentially have a role to play for the Gunners going forwards – especially when Lacazette departs.
The young striker himself has made it clear that he wants to be handed opportunities whether that be with the Gunners or not, so Arteta may as well make sure they come at the Emirates Stadium.
Talking earlier this month, the 20-year-old said: “I feel like I have played youth football for a while. I have scored goals at that level and improved at that level drastically compared to now. At the same time I am not sure what that challenge might be.
“It might be a loan, or if I am needed at Arsenal I am here and the gaffer knows that as well. I feel like I am definitely open to a new challenge, wherever it is I will be ready.”
Arteta has already hinted that a decision could be made on his immediate future in the January transfer window, too.
